"I was working as a civil servant in Dronten when news came that one of us would have to relocate to Lelystad. A totally fresh start in a new city certainly appealed to me. It was a half-day job in which I was the municipality's first point of contact for all sorts of issues. New residents came in needing a loan, a dustbin or permission to build an addtion or shed, to apply for building permits, that sort of thing. It was great fun!"
